چکیده

To counteract global food safety hazards related to raw consumption of ready-to-eat leafy vegetables, a method improve bacterial status using antagonistic bacteria was studied under field conditions. This is the first study identify potential Escherichia coli antagonists from native microbiota on green vegetables and evaluate their effect in an industrial production setting. Bacterial strains were isolated different types selected upon against E. vitro, out 295 tested strains, 37 showed effect. Four those coated separate treatments onto spinach seeds planted field. Both plants analyzed by Illumina MiSeq next generation sequencing (NGS), it seen that contained lower relative abundance plant human pathogenic genera. Higher β-diversity observed for samples treated with Bacillus coagulans LMG P-32205 B. P-32206 compared control, indicating have induced substantial changes leaves. A reduction Escherichia-Shigella two isolates (Pseudomonas cedrina P-32207 Pseudomonas punonenis P-32204) as developed into plants. Seeds inoculated (B. P-32206) had increased levels Lactobacillaceae, treatment resulted Pantoea (from 31.4 12.2%). These results encourage usage part solution reduce risk pathogens vegetables.

Antagonistic Effects of Lactobacilli spp. against Ciprofloxacin-Resistant Uropathogenic Escherichia coli Strains

Background and Objectives: Recently, the use of probiotics for the treatment of Urinary Tract Infections has become more popular. The use of probiotics in therapy is useful as only a few side effects such as destruction of resistant bacteria or disturbance of the intestinal microbiota have been reported. The aim of this study was to evaluate the probiotic effects of lactic acid bacteria by co-a...

Biocontrol of Escherichia coli O157

The effect of a bacteriophage cocktail (EcoShield™) that is specific against Escherichia coli O157:H7 was evaluated against a nalidixic acid-resistant enterohemorrhagic E. coli O157:H7 RM4407 (EHEC) strain on leafy greens stored under either (1) ambient air or (2) modified atmosphere (MA; 5% O2/35% CO2/60% N2). Pieces (~2 × 2 cm2) of leafy greens (lettuce and spinach) inoculated with 4.5 log CF...
